Creativity, by nature, is messy business. I am a very creative person (thanks, Mom)…I am also very messy (thanks again, Mom). I have been painting for decades and I LOVE it, but occasionally painting can start to feel like a chore or the inspiration is simply lacking. When this occurs I love that I can move on to another creative outlet. I have an over abundance of art and craft supplies (thanks AGAIN, Mom). Just like most other crafty folk I’m like a kid in a candy store when I step into Michael’s or any other craft supply store. I have always loved all the pretty papers and embellishments used for scrapbooking but never really had any interest in actually making scrapbooks. So a new found love of card making evolved. I love beads…so colourful…so shiny. So, naturally, I also love making jewelry. And my 2nd most loved creative endeavour (painting is #1 of course) is candle making. It’s creative and colourful like my other crafty passions…but it also smells fantastic!
So many creations brought into existence with these messy hands. Partners in crime with my messy mind. Too full of new ideas and projects, the lists never end…just like the laundry.
With 2 small children it can be hard to find the time to be creative as well as productive…Most of the time I can finish the project at hand…but cleaning up the mess from that project takes a backseat (like back of the bus backseat). Yellow Bunny has a hole in his ear and needs emergency surgery or someone spilled their cereal all over someone else, etc.
When I finally get to go back to my mess and my clutter, this messy mind knows exactly what’s going on and where everything is. Just how I like it.
